August 4, 2022 11:46 amIf two seperate OAS/GIS recipients were to get married, would they still receive their own individual cheque? How much would each get?

August 7, 2022 2:13 pmhello Christina,
Yes, each pensioner will still receive their own benefit payment under OAS/GIS program. However, you are now subject to family income calculation. That could potentially bring down the benefit amount together. Please ensure to call pension call centre first to get an estimate before making any changes.

November 25, 2022 3:10 pmThey calculate OAS/GIS amount using last year family income. But what to do if our income from all sources was $18000 in 2002 but we had finally retired in September 2022. So we will have very small amount for living starting from July 1st, 2023. Could we ask for using our real income in 2023 for OAS/GIS payments starting from July 01st, 2023?

November 28, 2022 4:15 pmhello Mike,
It is possible to ask the pension office to calculate your true income of the current year. It is to use the Statement of Estimated income form to complete the process. Your first step is to call pension call centre at 1-800-277-9914 to bring your request to the call centre agent, and they will send you the form and add a note in your file to start the process.
